It was a tough weekend against our rival Livonia Orioles, but congratulations are in order for our first place JV team, who stayed undefeated by shutting out the Orioles in a 22-0 rout.
This week is our Family Day week and we will be at home against the Northville Colts at Bentley Stadium!

Family Day - Posters, and Raffle Baskets
Family Day Posters
Each year for Family Day, families put together posters of their football players and cheerleaders and we hang them all around the stadium to celebrate our athletes! Family Day posters can be handmade, printed, laminated, or anything in between. There are many options for printing posters and banners. The UPS Store offers printing and laminating and designs. turned into each team mom to be displayed at Family Day.
Please turn in your Family Day posters to your team mom prior to Friday, September 27th to ensure they are displayed!
Family Day Raffle Baskets
Each squad for football and cheer is putting together a fun prize basket to be raffled off at the Family Day game on September 28th at Bentley Stadium. Each team mom will share the information for your squad's basket. There will also be a Yeti cooler grand prize raffle!

Battle at The Big House

This year, on October 13, 2024 the Livonia Blue Jays will be playing at The University of Michigan Stadium ("The Big House") in Ann Arbor! We will square off against the rival Livonia Falcons! Tickets are on sale now until October 6th. Tickets are only $10 each until September 26th, and $15 each after September 26th. Spread the word and bring your friends and family to watch some football at The Big House!
*Please note: Players and coaches do not require a ticket, but everyone else does.

A clean sweep! This weekend, we had our first 4 game sweep of the year, beating the Garden City Cougars flag, freshman, JV, and varsity squads! Congratulations to all the coaches, players, cheerleaders on a job well done and thank you to everyone for always representing the Blue Jays community so well when we play road games! The Livonia Blue Jays really do have the best fans and support in the league!
This week we travel to Churchill High School to take on our cross-town rivals, the Livonia Orioles!

We are hard at work preparing to make Family Day 2024 a very special day and week to celebrate our hard working and dedicated Livonia Blue Jay families! This year we have a lot of fun things planned for our Pep Rally!
Pep Rally Tentative Agenda
5:30-6:15 - Cheerleaders will play a 2-hand touch football game coached by the football coaches, and the football players will perform cheers taught by the cheer coaches
6:15-6:45 - The traditional tug-of-war challenge!
6:30-8:30 - We will have Kona on site, as well as two food trucks: Los Dos Amigos and American Cafe and Treats where you can purchase dinner and snacks while you hang out and get to know the rest of the Blue Jay family!

Blue Jay Nation,
What a great weekend for our first home games of the season! A little unseasonably chilly, but the Blue Jays brought the heat! The day began with a hard fought flag game that didn't end in our favor, falling 26-13. The freshman boys were up next and got the first victory of the day and their first of the season, with a convincing 31-12 victory! Next, it was JV's turn, and they came through with a dominant 36-7 win, to improve to 2-0 on the season. Last game of the day was varsity, and they put an exclamation point on the day, with a 27-6 win, also improving to 2-0 on the season. Congratulations to all of our football players on a great effort and great day for football at Bentley!
This week we travel to Garden City High School, for the first time, to take on the Garden City Cougars!

This year, on October 13, 2024 the Livonia Blue Jays will be playing at The University of Michigan Stadium ("The Big House") in Ann Arbor! We will square off against the rival Livonia Falcons! The Blue Jays will be selling tickets and game-specific apparel, beginning this week! So be on the lookout for communication via email and Facebook with the link and details! First and foremost, I want to thank all players, coaches, parents, spectators, and volunteers for making Saturday's scrimmage a beaming success! Despite the sporadic weather, and a last minute change of venue, we were able to showcase why Livonia runs the best youth football programs! It was great to see some live football action and I couldn't be more proud of our players and coaches.
This week is the first game of the season on Sunday, August 25th against the Novi Bobcats at Novi High School. This will be a good test right out of the gate, so let's have a great week of practice and prepare for some regular season football action!

There are still some players who need some equipment, either because we didn't have it at the time of uniform handout, or they missed the handout dates. If you missed uniform handouts or you need to exchange uniform sizes, please see a director so that we can assist you in getting your player fitted.

If you haven't uploaded the required physical form to SportsEngine, I have attached a copy of the form needed and the instructions to get them uploaded to SportsEngine. Per our SMYFA rules, they need to be completed before our first football game which is August 25th.

We are still looking to fill a few key volunteer spots for Freshman photographers for this season. We currently do not have anyone able to take pictures for Freshman football/cheer, and without any volunteers, we will not have any pictures for this season. If you volunteer for this key volunteer position, it will fulfill all your volunteer requirements for the entire season. Raffle Ticket Turn-In and Drawing Information
Families may begin turning in raffle tickets to any Blue Jay football or cheer director beginning August 5 at the practice field. All tickets must be turned in by August 18. If you have not turned in your tickets to a director at the practice field by August 18, you will be responsible to turn them in at the drawing location by 5:45pm on the day of the drawing. ALL THE STAPLES MUST BE REMOVED! The raffle drawing will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at 6:00pm at Bentley Field on 5 Mile Road (next to the Livonia Rec Center). Participants are not required to be present to win. The drawing will stream live (or be recorded) and on the public Livonia Blue Jays Facebook page.

Family Day Posters by Kelly Fay
Kelly Fay will be offering her services once again this year for Family Day posters! Anyone who has used her in the past knows that you are getting a beautiful high quality poster to celebrate your athlete on Family Day!
You will bring your football player or cheerleader to her home in Livonia in their uniform, and she will take a separate picture, and make it into a beautiful banner, that will then be displayed at the field on family day. The banners will be $40, and it is to be paid in full the day you get your child's photo is taken. It is cash only. This is not mandatory, but an easy and amazing way to get your child's banner taken care of.

Hello and welcome to the 2024 Livonia Blue Jays football season! Although I know many of you already, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself to those who may not know me. My name is Joe Hosking and I am one of the football directors for the Livonia Blue Jays, along with Josh Kirk, Shawn Hawkins, and Hans Heiman. This is my sixth full season as a director and I have two children in the Blue Jays program, one Varsity football player (Peyton, #4) and one JV cheerleader (Clementine)! Our goal as directors is to run a safe, fun, and competitive football program that prepares our players not only for football at the next level, but also to be responsible, upstanding members of our community.

Per our SMYFA rules, they need to be completed before our first football game which is August 25th. However, I'd love for this to be completed prior to our first practice in pads or mid-August at the latest (just to be on the safe side). Bentley Clean-Up Volunteer Opportunity
The annual Bentley Clean-Up will be on Saturday, August 10th at 9:00am. This is a great volunteer opportunity early in the season that will help ensure that our players, cheerleaders, coaches, and fans have a safe, beautiful home field environment this year! Annual Livonia 3-Way Scrimmage
Save the date! This year, our annual Livonia 3-way pre-season scrimmage will take place on Saturday, August 17th at Bentley Field. More information about game and arrival times, attire, etc. will come in the next weekly email.
Mandatory Volunteer Sign-Up
An email with all the information regarding volunteer requirements, instructions on how to sign up, descriptions for each position, will be sent out soon. Please refer back to that email for a full rundown regarding volunteer sign-up. Reminder: a mandatory 4 volunteer spots per family must be fulfilled during the football season.
Raffle Ticket Turn-In and Drawing Information
Families may begin turning in raffle tickets to any Blue Jay football or cheer director beginning August 5 at the practice field. All tickets must be turned in by August 18. If you have not turned in your tickets to a director at the practice field by August 18, you will be responsible to turn them in at the drawing location by 5:45pm on the day of the drawing. ALL THE STAPLES MUST BE REMOVED! The raffle drawing will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at 6:00pm at Bentley Field on 5 Mile Road (next to the Livonia Rec Center). Participants are not required to be present to win. The drawing will stream live (or be recorded) and on the public Livonia Blue Jays Facebook page.
o First Prize: $1000
o Second Prize: $750
o Third Prize $500
o Fourth Prize: $250
Athletes will still have normal practice on this day at MIES PARK (Grant Elementary). Practice WILL NOT be held at Bentley Field.
